London can be so expensive so I decided to make up a list of either incredibly cheap or free things to do in this beautiful city to share with you all!
1. Just walk around London’s monuments.
The first one is the most simple and the cheapest. I would recommend doing this at dusk as most of the tourists have cleared out by then and the buildings look even more beautiful in the light.
2. The British Museum
The museum is so great at any time but especially when you’re on a budget- that’s because it’s 100% free! It has such incredible collections and you can get wonderfully lost for hours amongst the treasures it holds.
3. Broadway Market
The market is an east London street running from London Fields to the Regent’s Canal in the London Borough of Hackney. It’s so interesting to walk around the stalls and explore and you can buy delicious food here for much cheaper than you would at a normal restaurant at lunchtime.
4. The Vintage Market on Brick Lane is a must.
Ok, you may have to splash out on something beautiful but its also really nice to just wander through and see all the vintage items, all the sequins and velvet, the furs and even the records that cover every inch of his massive underground warren.
5. The Zabludowicz Collection
The collection is always worth a visit, it describes itself as “Engaging contemporary art installations from emerging artists in airy former Methodist chapel” and that pretty much sums it up. It is the perfect place to spend an interesting (and free) morning without having too many tourists milling around.
6. London is full of incredible street art.
It’s beautiful and interesting and totally free to enjoy, the best places to go to see street art are Hackney Road, Bethnal Green, Camden, Shoreditch and Brick Lane.
7. China Town
Last but not least, China Town is a great place to explore. If you want to avoid paying for food at expensive restaurants there are tonnes of bakeries and Asian supermarkets where you can buy authentic Chinese snacks without having to shell out.
I hope you guys found this useful! London is such a great place to explore and I love it, but I know it can be a total pain to visit if you’re on a budget like me!
